Holy Week in Guatemala is celebrated street manifestations of faith, called processions, usually organized by a brotherhood, currently called passion associations. In each Easter procession there are processional litters and steps, which are usually religious images of the Passion of Christ, or Marian images, although there are exceptions such as the allegorical steps or those of saints. Throughout the years and the passing of history, the country was adapting new festivities related to Holy Week where the characteristics of Catholicism and the Mayan worldview are mixed.
